Blogiversary!

Today is my 4th blogiversary and I can surely tell you that when I started this venture, I never expected the hundreds of daily readers that I seem to have attracted. I created this blog for me, myself and I only, but I've had a lot of fun with it in the intervening years.

My goals for the future of this blog? I'd like to have more giveaways. (Two are already in the works - stay tuned) I'd also like to publish more serious pieces that will impact the Jewish community and get them thinking and talking. I have a few anonymous guest posters working on material as we speak, but welcome submissions and if I feel that they are relevant to my audience, I may post them.

Now we have reached the "present giving" portion of the post. (You knew that was coming, didn't you?). Since it has been 4 years, I figured I'd give you 4 ways to celebrate with me:
  1. Leave me a comment telling me what you enjoy about my blog. For some reason, getting you all to comment is the most difficult thing. I know how many of you read the blog because my statcounter tells me. Only the tiniest fraction of you comment. AND I LOVE COMMENTS!
  2. If you know me and read my blog and don't think that I know that you do, come over to me and tell me or send me an email. (Chances are pretty good that I already know you are a reader anyway)
  3. Send me a photo that would be appropriate to include with this post. I couldn't find anything that hit the mark. C'mon! Get creative! You know you want to !!!! guesswhoscoming2dinner@gmail.com
  4. Keep reading! Keep enjoying!

  7. Happy Blogiversary!

I love the peeks into the inner workings of your community, and your open-mindedness and rationalism (is that a word?). Thank you.

  11. Happy Anniversary!!!! You ask what I like about the blog, I like the Yekkish stuff of course (I.E. Choir rehearsal, Yekkish Trurous, putting up the flowers for Shavous), Wacky Wednesday, Food Fridays and any comments by BLD we love his comments, whats else??? Photos by SL since I thing she's the only one that works when its 25 inches outside (but maybe she only works to get pictures of the snow) And I love contests. I like it when other people send in pictures besides me. I didnt like joey's grand canyon video I could not watch it. I like it when everyone comments, not just the Yekke crowd or the bloggers even though the post is not about "Your circle". If i could come up with anything else I'll you know.

  13. Congrats on blogging for 4 years! That's big!!

I like the Wacky Wednesday signs and the Food Fridays (which usually leave me salivating and wishing I could taste it)!

I also love the way you decorate everything so beautifully. There's so much in the presentation (of the food and the table and the chandelier...) and I love the pictures on your sidebar. It's so special to see how you bring each yom tov to your house with such joy and excitement through decorating and designing your home!

Just for the record, you have 94 readers subscribed in Google Reader! And that's besides for all your followers!

Where are all the comments?! There should really be more!!

    You are absolutely RIGHT.
The 94 Google Reader subscribers and the 27 Google Followers are not recorded by my statcounter, which records hundreds of hits per day over and above "subscribers".
So where are all the commenters?
I guess my readers are a very shy bunch ;)
Thanks for taking the time to all of those who did!

  15. The real reason why I don't always get to comment is because I have the convenience of google reader. Commenting means I have to sign in to my blogger account...but I suppose I should do it more often!!

  17. Congratulations on 4 years! I've been reading and enjoying for a while now. As a wannabe blogger, I enjoy the unique combination of your down-to-earth writing coupled with humor, insight and reality. Keep it coming!

  18. Congratulations on this milestone.

I like the KAJ/Yekke stuff, such as goings on, minhogim/traditions, and choir recordings, and occasionally enjoy other things as well I guess.

Hmmmmm...that just got me wondering. Are there other KAJ/WH/Yekke bloggers? I can think of one in Eretz Yisroel...

    Accept no imitations.
GuessWhosComing2Dinner is the real article ;)
I've heard all your comments and will try to post more KAJ stuff.
I do take requests for topics.

  20. Okay, I have a question.

I know that when Rav Breuer z"l re-established KAJ in WH, he had to deal with people from different backgrounds, and that he did not work with a group that was 100% from Frankurt. And some adjustments were made, since there were varying minhogim and places of origin among the group.

My question is, about the demographics of KAJ WH then (as well as later, if anyone wants to explore that as well). How much was from Frankfurt, how much from other places, which places...?

    Example - KAJ 1940 - 50% Frankfurt, 15% Hamburg, 10% Wurzburg, 10% Nuremberg/Feurth, 5% Berlin, 5% various other German locations, 5% non-Yekkes.

So basically the question is about KAJ demographics.

Perhaps the Feldheim book on Rav Breuer and his legacy touches on this, but it has been a long time since I read it and I don't have it in front of me.
