Wednesday's Wacky (Fruit)


While it's true that you never know what you might find while shopping at Whole Foods in New York - this one was new for me.
The Buddha's hand pictured above looked like an esrog that had been caught in some major nuclear fallout yet still emerged smelling exactly like an esrog.
Who knew?

In fact it is classified as an esrog acc. to some Poskim.

The Ben Ish Chai discusses whether one can fulfill the Mitzvo of Esrog with one of these. I've actually seen on e - in Pomegranate - with some of the fingers having a Pitum & some not having Pitum. Can you imagine a Yanover (the type of Esrog that grows without a Pitum) Buddhas Hand?
