P.S.

My oven died over Yom Tov (better than erev Yom Tov I say...._
So if you know a guy who knows a guy who knows how to install a new igniter, give me a call so I can make Schlussel Challah, ok?
(I know, I know, it's not a Yekkishe minhag, but it can't hurt, right....? Well, unless you don't leave the key poking out and somebody cracks a tooth on it... the dental bills will kill any benefit the challah might have garnered you.....)

Good luck with the oven. We have a guy here in Highland Park called the Appliance Doctor. He has fixed the igniter in my oven.

Good luck. Erev pesach appliance break downs are no fun, but they sure make you appreciate the yomim tovim without breakdowns! :-)

I cannot believe you, dear cuzzin, would capitulate and fall for that "schlussel challa" nonsense!!!

stick to davening and good ol' tehilim, combined with generous acts of chesed. and if it is G-d's will for us to have parnassa, I don't think sticking a key in challa will do it.

I wonder if it has pagan roots. probably. or chassidish, which would make it only about 250 years old.

What?!

Everyone knows that schlussel challah is a segula, especially when combined with pidyon haBen garlic (not the sugar, just the garlic), for the marriage of your nephew's best friend to a nice girl with good middos.

Duh. I thought everyone knew that.
